RoboSense has announced it is to join the NVIDIA Omniverse ecosystem to enhance its sensor technology.

The company has integrated its latest smart solid state LiDAR model into Nvidia Drive Sim. This will allow for advanced and realistic simulations that accurately represent physical environments.

Drive Sim has revolutionised autonomous driving systems by combining Nvidia’s core technologies to create digital twin environments. This allows developers to conduct a wide range of repeatable testing scenarios on a larger scale.

As a result, the development process is faster, and costs are reduced.

RoboSense aims to use the platform to ensure the reliability and accuracy of its LiDAR systems while providing ADAS developers with valuable tools through access to “highly accurate simulation models”.

The newly introduced system provides a direct way for autonomous vehicle developers to access LiDAR technology for development and testing processes.

M-Series LiDAR is claimed to be the world’s first second generation smart solid state LiDAR to achieve mass production for automotive applications.

It has an innovative two-dimensional MEMS scanning architecture.

It incorporates a so called Gaze function that allows dynamic switching of scanning modes and patterns to adapt to various scenarios.

This technology enables the system to provide high quality point cloud data, effectively addressing challenging situations in autonomous driving perception.

It also enables simulating beam control, custom scan patterns, and resolutions, to create synthetic datasets for training autonomous driving systems.

The integration allows developers to easily generate highly accurate and intricate road environments.
