Volvo Group claims to be first to launch an AR safety app for electric trucks.
The Emergency Response Guide app is designed to promptly deliver information to emergency services upon arrival. This guidance aims to facilitate the first responders’ decision making and create a secure environment for successful rescue operations.
First responders are given a detailed view of the vehicle using connectivity, cameras, sensors, 3D modelling, and augmented reality overlays.
The new app includes step by step information on the safe shut down of the vehicle’s power supply and locations of components such as high voltage cables and battery packs.
The app also provides all safety documentation relating to the specific truck, once the model has been identified.
The app supplies information for all Volvo Group electric truck brands.
AR features for Mack trucks will be added in June 2023.
The free app is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
