AirConsole is supplying in-car gaming for the new BMW 5 Series, allowing occupants to play games when the vehicle is stationary.
Players connect smartphones to the AirConsole app on the infotainment system via Bluetooth and use them as controllers for a library of games tailored for in-car use.
Connection between smartphone and vehicle involves scanning a QR code on the display.
The interface allows navigation through a game selection menu and access to in-game functions.
Initial game selection includes racing, sports, quizzes and puzzles but the choice will be expanded.
The AirConsole app will be gradually offered for other BMW models.
